Chennai-based Paramount Airways plans to expand in Tier II and III cities, specifically in cities like Salem, Puducherry, Bellary, Mysore and Ranchi. Operations from these cities are expected to be commenced by the end of 2010 with first service launched from Chennai to Tuticorin.
Paramount currently operates to 17 destinations and is targeting to increase this to 40 by the end of 2011. It plans to acquire 8-10 turbo planes to cater to Tier II and Tier III cities. Management of the company believes that this expansion in domestic markets will help the airline in achieving a 10% market share by the end of 2010 compared to 2% at present.
